Charming Wedding Venues

Wednesday, June 29th, 2011

So you’re thinking about your big day where you get to feel like a princess, walking down the aisle towards your prince charming, and a new life full of dreams to be realized. But wait a minute… Have you thought about where you want your dream wedding? Most couples who get engaged, give themselves a year or two to plan the wedding they desire. Because of this, wedding venues get booked up pretty quickly. So before you decide which shoes, which dress, which bridesmaid, you should start thinking about your wedding venue first. This will give you the liberty to book it as and when you plan on getting married. Wedding planners are very helpful for organizing not just the frilly wedding details, but also making the most of their contacts and sources to get you exactly what you desire. I have compiled a list of charming wedding venues in the San Francisco Bay area to give you some ideas on the setting and theme you can choose for your marriage ceremony.

The Conservatory Of Flowers

As a Wedding Planner, in my opinion, the Conservatory of Flowers is the most romantic wedding venue of them all. This venue is located in Golden Gate Park and can seat up to 200 inside and 300 people outside. This place would be the flowery setting a couple could enjoy for a beautiful summer wedding. Prefer a winter wedding? The building itself has sustained its charm for the past 130 years and holds a combination of tropical and aquatic plants, The flora and fauna add an exotic surrounding to your wedding reception. You can go even further by adding a tropical theme to your wedding itself.

Teatro ZinZanni

Want to spice things up? Plan a cabaret wedding at Teatro ZinZanni a cirque cabaret and dinner theater. This wedding venue can hold up to 285 guests and entertain guests with cabaret performances. This setting has an exciting old world luxurious feel to it, with velvet drapes, romantic lighting and unique performers to add to the celebration.

The Asian Art Museum

Want a backdrop of Asian grandeur to bestow your wedding day? Book the Asian Art Museum which can seat from 400 to 1200 guests. The enchanting history of China, Japan, India and South East Asia interwoven into your special day, will be perfect for having a traditional Asian wedding. Your wedding planner can help you decide an ethnic Asian cuisine to highlight the traditional aspects.

The Great American Music Hall

If you want to dance the night away in your white dress, take a chance on the Great American Music Hall. This wedding venue has top notch sound and lighting equipment, so even the guests sitting on the back tables can hear the music crystal clear. This hall can hold up to 600 guests and has the potential to impress. Musical gods such as Billy Joel, Jerry Garcia and Santana have all graced this venue. A wedding would be the ideal musical celebration to create at this location.

San Francisco Design Center

Do you have an artistic flair? A wedding planner can help you create a one-of-a-kind bridal ceremony at the San Francisco Design Center. This wedding venue was built from a historical railway station and includes ornate chandeliers, luxurious reception facilities and 125,000 square feet of room for the large scale wedding you’ve always dreamed about.

Considerations When Selecting a Wedding Venue

1. A number of wedding venues happen to be booked for months ahead – you must decide if you’ll be choosing your wedding date around the wedding venue… or choosing your wedding venue to suit your ideal wedding date. The latter option would of course not always mean that you’ll be getting married at your first choice wedding venue!

2. Be sure you ask what the minimum and maximum numbers of guests are that can be accommodated at the venue. You do not want your intimate wedding party to get lost in a reception hall more suitable for a wedding party of 200 guests! Neither do you want your 200 guests to be cramped into a tiny reception hall without any room left for the dance floor…

3. With regards to basic principles, it’s vitally important to understand exactly what is included in the venue hire and what not. For example, will the tables and chairs have table cloths and seat covers? Do they have seat covers in your preferred choice available? If not, what will the additional cost involved be?

4. Enquire about their staff versus guests ratio. Will there be enough waiters and barmen to look after your wedding party? Once more, is this included in the venue hire or do you have to pay per staff member?

5. Who will be in charge of ensuring smooth running on your big day? Don’t forget to discuss your needs with this particular individual(s). It is crucial to feel comfortable with the individual(s) managing the wedding venue.

6. Many venues have a “no candle” policy for the reception area. If you’re dreaming of a wedding reception with a thousand flickering candles, do not forget to enquire if it’s allowed!

7. If you’ll be using the venue’s audio system (the microphone and speakers in the chapel, or the sound system at the reception) ask the venue to have everything checked prior to the wedding.

8. For those who have particular food or drink requirements, don’t forget to discuss that with the wedding venue. If, for example, you know that your guests tend to be more red wine people than whiskey people, ensure you mention that. That way your guest won’t be upset by a bar running out of stock.

9. Some venues have very exact cut off times. Be sure that you start your wedding ceremony early enough to allow for this. The last thing you want is having to send your guests home while they’re still having the time of their lives!

10. Finally, if the bride will be getting ready at the venue, ensure that the room available is not too small (you don’t want the bride, mother of the bride, maid of honour, bridesmaids and photographer falling over one another!) and that it’s light enough to have the bride’s make-up and hair done properly.

#5 Lake Garda: Possibly the most popular of lake wedding venues in Italy is Lake Garda. Lake Garda is the largest, bluest and most visually dramatic of all the northern Italian Lakes. Here you have many Italy wedding venues to choose from. You can choose one of many venues in Gardone Riviera, Salo’ or Malcesine.

#4 A Castle Wedding: Little could be more like a fairy tale than getting married in an actual castle. Castles have become common venues for weddings in Italy. They offer a sense of elegance, romance and sophistication. Thankfully there are many Italy castle wedding venues to choose from. They can be found in or near almost every region in Italy.

#3 Venice: Your town hall wedding in Venice will take place at the The Palazzo Cavalli. It is one of the most famous Italy wedding venues. It is a historic private palace that has been bought by the City of Venice for the purpose of Civil ceremonies. It offers a stunning view of the Grand Canal and the Rialto Bridge. This venue allows you to arrive in true Venice style, by gondola.

#2 Rome: One of the most magical Italy wedding venues is the Campidoglio in Rome. Civil weddings can be performed here, right in the heart of Rome. The Coliseum, The Roman Forum, Piazza di Venezia are all nearby so pictures following the wedding will be magical. Civil weddings are celebrated in a Palace which will bring a touch of the Renaissance style with period furniture and rich tapestries

#1 Positano: By far the most magical of Italy wedding venues is the small Amalfi Coast town of Positano. The steep hills are lined with cascading homes that seemingly are going to fall into the turquoise sea. The Positano Town Hall is simply one of the oldest and most perfect venues.

It will be your choice to be married by the Mayor of Positano inside the ancient hall or on the terrace overlooking the magical city and of course the stunning beaches and sea are below. Holding a sunset or a evening civil ceremony in the Positano Town Hall is definitely one of the most romantic ways to get married in Italy.
